Nassau Bay is in Harris County, and outside TWIA. Harris County is TWIA-eligible only east of State Highway 146, and Nassau Bay sits west of it. A re-roof here is not built for a WPI-8 windstorm certificate, and nothing on this page assumes one.
It surprises people. Harris County is TWIA-eligible only east of SH 146, and TDI’s list of Harris County cities in the program does not include Nassau Bay. So a waterfront Nassau Bay re-roof has no windstorm inspection, even though a house farther inland in League City does.
The wind off Clear Lake does not read county lines. Fastening, underlayment and edge details matter just as much on a Nassau Bay roof. A contractor who works both sides of the lake can build to the same standard here without the paperwork.
Nassau Bay’s housing is mostly older than League City’s newer sections, so hardboard and wood siding turn up more often than on the south side of the lake.
